WabiSabi with RAKAA and DJ BABU @ TB2 // WED 17TH NOV

WabiSabi @ TIMBUK2 - WED 17TH NOV
RAKAA IRISCIENCE feat. DJ BABU
(DILATED PEOPLES)

EXCLUSIVE UK SHOW!!

WabiSabi proudly presents another hip hop showcase with Rakaa and DJ Babu, known as two thirds of the legendary west-coast crew, Dilated Peoples.  This is going to be the only show they're doing in the UK for this tour - don't miss this rare opportunity to catch them!

With just a few (mostly underground) releases, Dilated Peoples energised the hip hop underground in similar fashion to fellow West Coast crew Jurassic 5. The duo of Evidence and Rakaa came together in the mid-'90s, when they met at many of the same hip hop shows; after deciding to start making tracks together, they formed Dilated Peoples. Later they added to the fold an excellent turntablist, DJ Babu of the world-famous Beat Junkies.  As well as developing a solid fan base in the underground community, they have also succeeded to break into the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart with "This Way (feat. Kanye West)" and "Worst Comes to Worst."

Rakaa has released his debut solo Album titled " Crown Of Thorns" in July and is already quoted as a future classic.  It is produced by fellow members Evidence and DJ Babu with guest production by The Alchemist, El-P, !llmind, Exile, Sid Roams, King Jahzzy, DJ Honda and Eric Bobo & DJ Rhettmatic.

Rakaa will be joined by DJ Babu, who has won multiple competition titles including the Vestax World Championships and multiple ITF titles.  Babu introduced the title “Turntablist” in order to differentiate what he was doing from more conventional aspects of DJ-ing.  He's also known as the creator of the most widely used scratch record: Super Duck Breaks (1996 Stones Throw Records).
Support from WabiSabi residents spinning all the funky get-downs plus more T.B.C.

Doors 9pm // Adv. Tickets from Bristol Ticket Shop for £8.50 + B.F.

WabiSabi is a Japanese phrase referring to finding beauty in imperfection. It's also the name of a new funk-fuelled, hands-in-the air type fun night in Bristol. Previous guests include: Akil, Jazzanova, 4Hero, DJ Format, DJ Vadim, Boca45, Parker, Nostalgia 77, Lack Of Afro, Flevans and Sweet Laredo.
This is a pretty special duo coming to Bris, and as they are only doing ONE show in the whole of the UK, we should all honour that and get our asses down there on the 17th.
